Unique Western adventure holidays for all riders...
An unique western riding experience, in the heart of the Haut Languedoc. Experience life on a Cattle Ranch without crossing the Atlantic.
The National Park of Haut Languedoc is a protected nature reserve of several thousand hectares, situated in the beautiful South of France. The park is completely unspoilt with immense forests, expanses of wild heath land, strange and beautiful rock formations, huge lakes and fast flowing streams.
This is where you will find the stunning Western Ranch Du Haut Languedoc. The region has a mild climate, which is perfect for long trail rides, all year round.
Experienced trail riders, Jacqueline and/or Yank, guide you down the many routes to discover the full beauty of this stunning park and give you a truly authentic Western Riding adventure in the heart of Haut Languedoc.
We speak French, Dutch, English and German.
The Western Ranch is set in its own private 120 hectares of the park, yet is only 20 minutes from the local town of La Salvetat sûr Agout. This typical French town offers all local amenities.
Never ridden western style? Don't worry, because full explanations and assistance is given as to the differences before you can depart. The guides ensure that you are familiar with the correct seating position, the commands for your horse and how to ride with a long reign. If you feel you would like further help, you always have the option of a private lesson with Yank, the ranches owner.
Each riding group has a maximum of 10 riders, guided by the experienced trail rider Jacqueline, Yank's daughter.
Consideration is always given to the ability of each individual.
During good weather why not take your horse into the lake for a swimm or a canter along the lakeshore?
Night rides are a special feature if you want to experience riding under the stars. Helping with a cattle drive across the fields and prairies of the ranch might fulfil that lifelong ambition. Why not try your hand at 'cutting' (removing a cow from the herd) or team penning (manoeuvring 3 cows into an eclosed area).
After a full day in the saddle, join together in the relaxed atmosphere of the ranches rustic restaurant for a home cooked meal, or out on the covered terrace for a traditional cowboy barbecue.
The pleasant old west bar has a comfortable sitting area with a traditional wood-burning stove and the bar is always open if you want a drink.
Campfires under the wide Languedoc skies, practice your lassoing skills, archery, darts or a walk to observe the local wildlife.
There is always plenty to do at the Western Ranch.
Accomodation
The ranch house and buildings are all of traditional construction in wood and stone to respect its unique environment.
There are 5 comfortable double bedrooms, all with shower, toilet and small living area.
Outside there is a swimming pool with stunning views across the ranch and into the National Forest. |
