Cookie policy
This page explains which cookies and similar technologies this website uses, what they are for and how to change your choice at any time.
In short
- Only the cookies strictly necessary to make the site work are always placed. No consent is required for those.
- Statistics and marketing are off by default. Nothing is loaded and nothing is measured until you give consent.
- Refusing takes one click and exactly as much effort as accepting.
- You can change your choice at any time through the Cookie preferences link at the bottom of every page.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies such as localStorage do the same thing: they keep a value in your browser. In this policy, "cookie" refers to both.
The categories we use
- Necessary
- Required to make the website work and to remember your own cookie choice. This category is always on and cannot be switched off, because the site would not function properly without it.
- Statistics
- Measures how the website is used so that we can improve it. Off by default.
- Marketing and external content
- Third-party content such as the Google Maps map and the Google reviews. These parties may collect data themselves. Off by default.
Cookie overview
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Category | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
ohr_consent |
Oosting HorseRiding (this website) | Remembers which cookie categories you accepted or refused, together with the time and the version of this cookie policy. Stored in localStorage, with a cookie as a fallback. This data stays in your browser and is not sent to us or to any third party. | Necessary | 6 months |
_ga |
Google Ireland Limited | Distinguishes visitors from one another using a randomly generated number, so that visitor counts are accurate. | Statistics | 24 months |
_ga_* |
Google Ireland Limited | Keeps track of the session state within a single Google Analytics property. The asterisk stands for the property identifier. | Statistics | 24 months |
Cookies and storage set by Google Maps and Google Places, including NID |
Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC | Needed to display the map and the reviews, to remember Google preferences and to prevent abuse. These cookies are set by Google itself as soon as you load the content. | Marketing and external content | Up to 6 months, depending on the cookie. |
As long as you have not accepted statistics and external content, nothing from the second to the fourth row is present in your browser and no request is sent to Google.
Changing or withdrawing your choice
Withdrawing consent is just as easy as giving it. Click Cookie preferences at the bottom of any page. The choice panel reopens and you can switch each category on or off. Your new choice takes effect immediately; cookies already placed for a category you switch off are deleted or no longer used.
You can also delete or block cookies yourself through your browser settings. Bear in mind that blocking all cookies also affects the necessary preference cookie, which means the choice panel will reappear on every visit.
Why nothing is switched on in advance
Consent is only valid if it is freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous. That is why statistics and external content are off by default, why the button to refuse everything is the same size and just as visible as the button to accept everything, and why we expressly do not treat scrolling or clicking through as consent. There is no cookie wall either: the whole website remains usable if you refuse.
More information
What happens to your data once you have given consent, and what rights you have, is set out in our privacy policy. You can ask us anything at info@oosting-horseriding.com.
