Horse riding holiday
Horse riding holiday in the Sidobre, southern France
Looking for a riding holiday in France that means more than a single afternoon trail ride? At Oosting HorseRiding you book a full week, Friday to Friday, on your own riding horse, at a family estate in the Sidobre, in the Tarn department of Occitanie. It is a riding holiday built around star rides: every day you ride a different route through forest and hills and return to the estate at the end of the day. Not a point-to-point trek from one place to the next, but a single base, at a stable that also provides accommodation and meals.
One week, full board, at least four hours riding a day
The riding holiday runs for one week, from Friday to Friday. You stay on full board at the estate and ride at least four hours a day on trails through the Sidobre countryside. Horse, accommodation and meals are combined in a single package, so you don't need to arrange stabling, a hotel and a riding school separately.
A rhythm for you and the horse
- At least four hours riding per day
- One horse for the whole week, cared for by you
- A rest day halfway through the week
- Full board with homemade meals
- A closing barbecue
All-round riding horses
You do not need to bring a horse of your own. We choose a horse from our stable that suits your level and build, and it stays your horse for the whole week.
The horses are all-round riding horses, trained for safe and confident trail riding. They live together in the fields as much as possible, and you ride relaxed and at ease. Outdoor life on the estate is a natural part of it all.
Welfare first. Horses need consistency and rhythm. That is why a week or longer is the core offer, creating calm for both guest and horse.

Riding level and practical conditions
To join the trail rides you need to be confident sitting the walk, trot and canter. For private groups riding at the same level, tailored arrangements are possible — mention this when you request a quote. Other practical points:
- A riding helmet is compulsory and is provided on site.
- Minimum age is 16 accompanied by a parent or guide, and 18 to ride independently.
- Maximum rider weight is 90 kg.
- Groups are limited to a maximum of eight riders per ride.

The estate keeps close to twenty horses, all trained as versatile trail horses.
Getting there: transfer from Castres
Travelling by train? A transfer from Castres station to the estate is available for €50 per person, payable in cash on site.
Single rides
We don't offer single trail rides without a stay as standard — this is only possible on special request.
The estate also has a separate cottage with two bedrooms, a bathroom, a small living room and a kitchen. When there are no riding guests, the cottage is available for separate rental. Feel free to contact us directly about this.
