Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about the riding holiday at Oosting HorseRiding

What riding level do I need?

You should be comfortable sitting the walk, trot and canter. We ride out on the Sidobre trails, so you need to steer your horse independently. Booking as a private group allows for a tailored approach; let us know in advance.

Is a helmet compulsory?

Yes, a riding helmet is compulsory on all rides. You may bring your own. If you do not have one, a helmet is available on site.

What age and weight limits apply?

From 16 you can join accompanied by a parent or guardian. From 18 you can take part independently. The maximum rider weight is 90 kilos.

How many riders are in a group?

A maximum of eight riders join each ride. Jacqueline guides the rides herself.

Can I come along without riding?

Yes. A non-riding companion pays a separate rate of 1,050 euros per person per week, against 1,500 euros for a rider. That makes it workable when not everyone in your party rides.

What is included in the price?

The week is all inclusive: seven nights full board, a horse from our stable that is yours for the week and all rides, homemade meals and a closing barbecue, and bed linen. Coffee, tea and orange juice at breakfast and lunch are included. Not included are toiletries, towels and all other drinks, including those with meals.

How do I get to the estate?

You can travel by train to Castres; a transfer from the station is possible for 50 euros per person, paid in cash on arrival. Flights arrive at Toulouse. By car you drive to 6 chemin le Syndic, 81210 Lacrouzette.

Do I need my own insurance?

Yes. You must hold valid liability and travel insurance yourself. We also advise taking out cancellation insurance.

How does payment and the deposit work?

You pay nothing online. After your request you receive a personal proposal and pay by bank transfer. You secure the booking with a deposit of 250 euros per booking, within one week of the confirmation. The remaining amount must reach our account no later than eight weeks before arrival; if you book closer to the date, the full amount is payable in one go. On site you pay cash for drinks outside of mealtimes and for any transfer.

What applies if I cancel?

Cancelling more than eight weeks before arrival costs 25 per cent, between eight and four weeks 50 per cent, and within four weeks 100 per cent. See the cancellation and withdrawal page for the full arrangement.

Do the rides always go ahead?

Rides go ahead subject to extreme weather conditions. In such weather Jacqueline adjusts the programme for that day.

Can photos of me appear on the website?

Only with your permission. We always ask beforehand, both for the website and for social media.

Can I bring children on the riding holiday?

Children are welcome to ride from age 16, accompanied by a parent or guide. From age 18, riding independently is possible. Non-riding family members, including those under 16, are welcome as non-riders and stay at the non-rider rate.

What do I need to pay in cash on site?

On site, you settle in cash: all drinks except coffee, tea and orange juice at breakfast and lunch, and the €50 per person transfer from Castres station, if you use it. Toiletries and towels are not provided and should be brought with you.
