Terms and conditions
These terms apply to every booking with OOSTING HORSE RIDING. They are written in plain language so that you know where you stand before you book. You will receive them together with your booking confirmation.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
OOSTING HORSE RIDING is an SCI (société civile immobilière) under French law, established at 6 chemin le Syndic, 81210 Lacrouzette, France. Full company details are on our legal notice page.
These terms apply to all enquiries, bookings and stays. By confirming a booking you declare that you have read and accept them. This also covers the other people in your booking: the person who books is responsible for making sure everyone travelling with them is informed.
2. What we offer
We offer one-week stays, Friday to Friday, at our location in Lacrouzette in the Tarn.
Riding holiday
A riding holiday week is all-inclusive: one total price covering accommodation, full board and the riding. There are at least four hours of riding per day. Rides are led by Jacqueline Oosting. A maximum of eight riders take part in each ride.
Included in the price:
- accommodation at our location;
- full board, meaning all meals, with coffee, tea and orange juice at breakfast and lunch;
- the horse and the use of saddle and other tack;
- the use of a riding hat if you do not bring your own;
- the guided rides, at least four hours a day.
Not included in the price:
- toiletries;
- towels;
- all other drinks, including those served with meals;
- travel to and from our location;
- the optional transfer from Castres railway station;
- your own insurance, see clause 9.
Travelling along without riding
Anyone joining without riding books at the non-rider rate. Accommodation and full board are included; the riding is not.
Human wellbeing
A human wellbeing stay is always tailor-made. We put together the content, duration and price for each individual request. What has been agreed is set out in your personal quotation and in the booking confirmation.
Individual rides
We do not offer individual rides to passing visitors. An exception is only open to discussion on special request.
3. Prices
The following prices apply to a one-week riding holiday, per person, from 1 June 2026:
| Participant | Price per person per week |
|---|---|
| Rider, including horse and guided rides | 1,500 euro |
| Accompanying non-rider, accommodation and full board | 1,050 euro |
| Human wellbeing | On request, always tailor-made |
All amounts are in euro and are the price you pay, including any taxes due. The price stated in your booking confirmation is the price that applies; we do not increase it afterwards.
We do not quote a "from" price for human wellbeing stays, because the programme differs for every guest. You receive a quotation with a fixed total price before you book.
4. Booking and payment
A booking is made at the moment we confirm it to you in writing by email. Before that, an enquiry through the quotation form or by email is entirely without obligation.
Deposit
To secure your booking you pay a deposit of 250 euro per booking, payable within one week of the booking confirmation. The deposit is deducted from the total amount.
Balance
The remaining amount must be in our account no later than eight weeks before the start of your stay. If you book closer to the start date than that, the full amount is payable in one go at the time of booking.
If payment is late we will contact you first and give you a reasonable period to pay. If payment still fails to arrive, we may cancel the booking, in which case the cancellation terms in clause 6 apply.
Payment methods
The deposit and the balance are paid by bank transfer. Our bank details are on the invoice accompanying your booking confirmation. Any bank charges on your side are for your account.
What you pay in cash on arrival
Two things are settled in cash on site, so that nothing comes as a surprise:
- all drinks, except coffee, tea and orange juice at breakfast and lunch, settled at the end of your stay;
- the transfer to and from Castres railway station, if you requested it in advance: 50 euro per person.
These two items are deliberately kept outside the weekly price, because not every guest uses them.
5. Changing your booking
If you want to change your booking, for instance to a different week or a different number of people, contact us as soon as possible. We will always look at what is possible, but we cannot guarantee it: the number of places and horses is limited.
If a change cannot be made and you withdraw your booking as a result, that counts as a cancellation under clause 6. If the number of participants goes down, the cancellation scale applies to the people who are no longer coming.
A participant may transfer their place to someone else who meets the participation requirements in clause 8, provided you discuss this with us in advance and we agree.
6. Cancellation by you
Cancellations must be made in writing, by email to info@oosting-horseriding.com. The date on which we receive your message determines which percentage applies.
| When you cancel | Amount due |
|---|---|
| More than 8 weeks before arrival | 25 per cent |
| 8 to 4 weeks before arrival | 50 per cent |
| Less than 4 weeks before arrival | 100 per cent |
If you have already paid more than the amount due, we refund the difference within thirty days. If you have paid less, we invoice the difference.
Because part or all of the price remains payable if you cancel, we strongly advise you to take out cancellation insurance. See also our cancellation and withdrawal page.
7. Changes or cancellation by us, and force majeure
We only cancel a stay when there is genuinely no alternative, for example in the event of illness, a situation in which the safety of guests or horses is at stake, or force majeure. By force majeure we mean unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances beyond our control, such as extreme weather, wildfire, flooding, an epidemic, or a government measure that makes the stay impossible.
If we have to cancel, we offer you the choice between an alternative date and a refund of what you have paid for the cancelled stay. Refunds are made within thirty days. We do not reimburse costs you have incurred yourself for travelling to our location; travel or cancellation insurance is the right instrument for that.
Rides go ahead subject to extreme weather conditions. In the event of thunderstorms, extreme heat or high winds, a ride may be shortened, moved or replaced with an activity on site. That is a safety decision and does not give rise to a refund, unless a substantial part of your programme is lost as a result. In that case we will look for a reasonable solution together with you.
8. Participation requirements and safety
Horse riding carries risks. To keep them as small as possible, the following rules apply. They form part of the agreement.
- Riding hat compulsory. Everyone wears a riding hat while riding. If you do not bring your own, one is available for you on site.
- Age. Participation is possible from the age of 16 when accompanied by a parent or guardian who travels with you. From the age of 18 you can take part independently.
- Weight. The maximum weight for a rider is 90 kilos. This limit exists for the sake of the horses and is not negotiable.
- Riding ability. You must be able to sit walk, trot and canter comfortably. If you book as a private group, a tailored arrangement can be discussed; please tell us in advance.
- Group size. A maximum of eight riders take part in each ride.
- Instructions. During rides and on the premises you follow the instructions of the guide. We may exclude a participant from a ride if they do not follow those instructions, if they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if in our judgement participation is irresponsible for themselves, for the group or for the horse. No refund is due in that case.
- Accurate information. You state your riding ability, your weight and your experience truthfully. We allocate horses on that basis. Inaccurate information is a safety risk and may lead to exclusion from participation without a refund.
Health
Before arrival you tell us about any physical or psychological circumstances that could affect safe participation, such as back, neck or joint problems, epilepsy, cardiovascular conditions, pregnancy, or medication that affects your reaction time. If you are in any doubt, consult your doctor beforehand. We use this information solely to assess whether and how you can take part safely, and we do not keep it longer than necessary; see our privacy policy.
9. Insurance: your own responsibility
Participants must hold valid liability and travel insurance of their own, and are advised to take out cancellation insurance. Before you travel, check whether your policy covers horse riding and trail riding abroad; some insurers treat these as excluded activities or as activities requiring additional cover.
Please also bring valid proof of medical insurance cover for Europe (your EHIC card or the equivalent issued by your health insurer).
10. Liability
We carry out our services with care and are liable for damage resulting from a failure attributable to us.
We are not liable for:
- damage resulting from a circumstance attributable to you, such as failing to follow instructions, giving inaccurate information about riding ability or health, or not wearing a riding hat;
- damage caused by a third party not involved in the performance of our service;
- damage caused by force majeure as described in clause 7;
- loss, theft or damage to your belongings, unless caused by us;
- the risk inherent in being around horses, which cannot be entirely excluded even with careful conduct.
These exclusions and limitations do not apply in the event of intent or deliberate recklessness on our part, nor in the event of personal injury or death. Nor do they ever go further than the applicable law permits: if you are a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights continue to apply in full.
You are liable for damage you cause to a horse, to tack or to our property where that damage is attributable to you.
11. Photographs and images
We only use photographs in which guests are recognisable on our website and social media if you have given permission in advance. That permission is voluntary and has no bearing on your booking. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing info@oosting-horseriding.com.
12. Right of withdrawal
What we offer is a leisure service supplied on an agreed date. The statutory fourteen-day right of withdrawal does not apply to services of this kind. That follows from article 16(l) of Directive 2011/83/EU and from article L221-28, 12°, of the French Code de la consommation. What applies instead is set out in clause 6 and on our cancellation and withdrawal page.
13. Personal data
Which data we process about you, why, for how long and with whom we share it, is set out in our privacy policy.
14. Complaints and disputes
If something is not to your satisfaction, please tell us straight away while you are here. Most things can still be put right at that point.
If that does not resolve matters, submit your complaint in writing within two months of the end of your stay to info@oosting-horseriding.com, describing what happened and what you expect from us. You will receive a substantive reply within fourteen days, or a message telling you when to expect one.
If we cannot reach agreement together, as a consumer you may refer the dispute free of charge to a médiateur de la consommation. No standing mediator has been appointed at this time; as soon as you raise a complaint that we cannot resolve together, we will appoint a médiateur de la consommation and send you their name and contact details.
15. Governing law
This agreement is governed by French law.
If you are a consumer and your habitual residence is in the Netherlands, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of Dutch law. That follows from article 6 of the Rome I Regulation (EC) No 593/2008, because we direct our activities to the Netherlands as well. The same applies to consumers habitually resident in another EU member state to which we direct our activities. As a consumer you may also bring proceedings before the courts of your own place of residence.
16. Final provisions
If any provision of these terms is void or invalid, the remaining provisions continue to apply. The invalid provision is then replaced by the statutory rule that comes closest to it.
We may amend these terms for future bookings. The version that applies to your booking is the one in force at the time of your booking confirmation; we send that version with the confirmation.
Version: 1.0, adopted on 3 August 2026
